Zelda
joined our home from Sovereign Brittanys in Minnesota. I have
always loved Zelda's father, Vegas. He is a stunning dog to
watch in the show ring. Zelda's mother is a beautiful bitch
who has produced nice puppies in her previous litters. I originally
considered taking a boy from the litter, but Classy graced us
with only 3 puppies, all girls! Everything happens for a reason.Zelda
was a fun puppy. Zelda's call name is after the video game The
Legend of Zelda. I spent way too many hours of my youth playing
Zelda, and thought it was only fitting to name a dog after that.
Her AKC name was originally going to be something different,
but after Zelda lived with me for a couple months I decided
her name needed to somehow relate to her father's AKC name,
as she is very much a female version of him. I showed Zelda
to all her show points. We picked up both majors from the 6-9
puppy class.
Then Zelda
started competing in field trials. I was able to selectivly
show Zelda while she competed in the field, and finished her
show championship with 4 majors. After I finished her, Zelda
picked up multiple Best of Breeds and a Best In Specialty win
on her in 2006, and qualified Zelda for the Eukanuba Tournament
of Champions. After a couple weeks off for shows, Zelda went
back to summer camp for the fall field trial season. Zelda picked
up her first Open Gundog win in the fall of 2006, and the remainder
of her field points in the spring of 2007 finishing her field
championship, and making her a Dual Champion at the young age
of 2 1/2. Zelda came home in hopes of breeding her. I decided
to enter her in some shows while I waiting for her to come into
season. I was just hoping to get some Best of Breeds and qualify
her for the 2007 Eukanuba Tournament of Champions. Zelda jumped
back in the showring like she never left, and she picked up
multiple Group Placements on top of her Best of Breed wins.
The highlight the summer of 2007 was her 2nd Best in Specialty
win at the California Brittany Club Specialty.
I decided
that 2008 was Zelda's year to hit the show ring and sent her
to Phil & Amy Booth of Blue Rose Kennels in Michigan. We
retired Zelda in September with her Best In Specialty Win at
the Georgia Brittany Club.
She retired as the #1 Brittany Bitch in the country.
Zelda is
spayed, and can only be shown at independent specialties and
in sweepstakes. I brought her out for sweepstakes at the Summer
Specialty and she was Best of Opposite Sex in Dual Sweepstakes
and Best in Veteran Sweepstakes. This was a big thrill for me
as I was back on the end of her leash. She was handled by several
other people during her specials career as I was too nervous
to handle her myself even though I showed her to all her show
championship points.
Zelda has
12 offspring, and her top winning kid is GCH Sovereign's Chasing
Legends "Hobey" owned by Dawn & Joe Droel. Hobey
is a Best in Show and Multiple Best in Specialty Show winner.
To date she has 4 Champions (3 American & 1 Canadian).
